Vijay Sethupathi's mass entertainer movie Rekka is now out. This is the sixth release for him this year. Will this film lift Vijay Sethupathi's career to a new level? Continue reading this review to know.
Plot:
The film has a plot much similar to that of films like Ghilli, Shajahan. Set in the backdrop of Madurai & Kumbakona, our hero Siva is a man who supports love and he habitually rescues girls who are forced into arranged marriages.
Once Vijay Sethupathi lock up horns with the villan Harish Uthaman, as he has to rescue a girl who was engaged with him. This lands Vijay Sethupathi into a huge trouble, as the villain blackmails him to kidnap the daughter of a minister (played by Lakshmi Menon).
When everyone was surprised to know why Vijay Sethupathi does this, a flashback opens up to make us know the reason. Watch the film in big screens to know it.
Whats hot and What is not:
This will be the first time we are seeing Vijay Sethupathi in a full pledged action role, and the actor has done it well with an efforless acting. While Lakshmi Menon's acting was good, her looks got ruined by too much of make up. The performance of K.S.Ravikumar, Sathish, Harish Uthaman, Kabir Duhan Singh have remarkably perfected in the roles offered to them.
None of the songs by Imman were memorable and none stays in our mind. While the cinematography and editing were convincing. Also, some violent scenes seems to have voluntarily added with, just for the sake of it.
On the whole, Rekka - A much different mass entertainer, in the career of Vijay Sethupathi. This film is worth a watch. Go for it.
